This knife is a collaboration of three renowned master workshops, resulting in a rare and highly collectible masterpiece.
Saya: Crafted by the "Settsu No Kuni Shoji" workshop. Layers of Urushi are first applied to the Saya, followed by the meticulous embedding of mother-of-pearl and gold foil. The Saya undergoes 12 rounds of manual polishing, and the lacquer is hand-polished to a splendid finish, presenting a magnificent variegated pattern (Tsugaru Nuri) and a silky-smooth, warm luster.
Crafting each Saya takes a year's time, reflecting the artisan's craftsmanship, taste, and patience in this exceptional work of art!
Gyuto: Mizuno Tanrenjo, founded in 1872, now led by the fifth generation, the lineage has always held the qualification of a Japanese sword smith. This knife features the DX blue #2 steel, traditionally hand-forged and quenched in water, with a hand-polished mirrored finish on both sides, revealing the intricate "Tyouji Hamon pattern."
Handle: This knife is specially paired with a "Ebony Buffalo Horn Octagonal Handle with Triple Silver Ferrules" handcrafted by "Yamawaki Hamono." It was meticulously crafted by a handle artisan from Sakai City, Osaka, Japan.
