在地沸豐富、地鐵細膩的刀身上，燒製出沸出型的直刃，是一件相當出色的作品。本作為代表尾張國（今愛知縣西部）的鍛冶師，初代勝重之作。相傳二代勝重則是在三河國（今愛知縣東部）進行鍛刀。
這振刀的握柄為新作，配有鐵地金具，拵的保存狀態也相當良好。
